Going to see this last Thursday in 3D.

The film from 2014 was a nice variation on the already old and well-known Sleeping Beauty fairy tale, but that film was not exactly crying out for a sequel and this new film therefore feels somewhat redundant.

Jolie still looks fantastic as the title character, but has a lot less to do, including the whole side story, that she is part of a special elf species I found dragged in and only seems to be a reason to allow two groups to compete against each other in the final.

Pheiffer as villain is good, but there is -except for the finale- disappointingly little in it, it is actually more of a glorified supporting role.

Otherwise nicely made, good SFX, but in general not interesting enough and quite unnecessary.

A five, or 2.5 star.

And like many viewers before us, we also belong to the club that thought the sequel was a great whole. To be honest, even slightly better than the first movie!

A nice story, good actors and good computer animation (CGI).

The film shows how someone who "digs a pit for someone else, falls into it himself".

Queen Ingrith turns out to have a beautiful appearance but to be a rotten spirit inside, this is where much of the story floats. Despite the fact that Maleficent overcomes her aversion for her daughter Aurora and goes to the castle of Prince Philip's parents, Maleficent still comes to a meeting between King John and Queen Ingrith.

Would it still be okay for the beautiful Aurora and her beloved Philip to form a couple?

You know it at the end of the film, one that we rate with a 7.5!

A good sequel too. This second Maleficent film is not inferior to its predecessor. Certainly not visually. The special effects makers have once again pulled out all the stops to make this a success. Beautiful palaces, magical creatures and beautiful colorful natural scenery. Still, I give it half less than the first film (4*). I thought the beautiful princess and the evil stepmother were too much of a focus at Maleficent's expense. But consider these points as nitpicking because Maleficent is simply one of the better fairy tale films of the past ten years along with Cinderella.
