Another strong film on the Dutch radar. Also seems very similar to Rundskop.

I do like those provincial films with the accompanying dialects... Something that the Netherlands... also... rarely does. In this case we are in Limburg... Gray and bleak. We follow father and son Lei and Jeffrey... Born hunters and typical villagers. At first the film seems to want to search, but once the time has passed a bit, it manages to keep you in its grip.

What can you actually call it? Some kind of cocky behavior or competition between father and son or is it ultimately the crime world that Lei's father finds himself in... and slowly swallows them? However, everything stays at a distance and simmers on to the end... but nevertheless it does hit me.... Eg: That moments between Jeff and Lei in that van with slave girls, the scenes between Nicole and Jeffrey, that Jeffrey died very suddenly (accident? Lei had a big gulp when he was behind the wheel)... followed by that pregnancy. And the scene between Lei and his ex-wife... Raw...

Finally a Dutch film that could appeal to me. More should be made of these, without them being pushed into a corner.

4.0*

Edit: I just saw that this is the director of White Fish...a movie shot in my former region.

And Valentino????? Is that something, despite the colorful typical Dutch poster?

Good film about a father and son who go into the criminal environment to earn their money. In terms of plot and course, it is all quite predictable. Part social drama and part crime film in which the relationship between father and son is central. In that respect it certainly succeeded. Fairly raw portrayed and good acting.
