Lichter plot

Two countries, two cities, and a river. The Oder not only separates the German Frankfurt from the Polish Slubice, but also two worlds. People, whether they are rich or poor, seek their happiness here, and are held back by the border. So are the young cigarette smuggler Andreas, who, disappointed by love, becomes a traitor, Ingo, the tenant of a mattress store who tries by all means possible to keep his shop open, and Atoni, a Polish taxi driver who urgently needs money to buy a communion dress for to buy his daughter. And then there are Kolya, Anna and Dimitri, three Ukrainians, who want to live in the 'golden' west at any price.
