Man with a Plan season 1

I started following this sitcom last summer, along with The Odd Couple. It's just a shame that Veronica didn't broadcast both series in full, so I ended up having to watch them further online.

Man with a Plan is an entertaining comedy, but actually just a bit too good to be really funny. What started to bother me a bit in the long run is that the episodes are rather defined. A problem arises within the family and within the episode it is neatly solved again. Of course this is the case with many sitcoms, but here there are several times somewhat ridiculous conflicts/misunderstandings. I also found the difference in level between the episodes quite big. There were episodes where I chuckled several times, while this was not the case at least in at least as many episodes.

What saves the series is the short duration of the episodes. This keeps the entertainment value high and it is not so bad if a lesser episode comes along. In addition, I continue to enjoy working with Matt LeBlanc. His role is obviously not as iconic as the one in Friends, despite Adam having enough similarities with Joey, but he does it very sympathetically. His interplay with Liza Snyder is also fun; I definitely saw chemistry between the two. Other characters, like Don and especially Lowell, take a little more time to warm up, but halfway through the season they too start to have their moments.

Man with a Plan won't get you down that easily, but it's a fun series to have. It easily looks away and there are sure to be funny scenes passing by. I do think that if they plan to keep making this series, they need to add some spice to it.

3*
